Even with moderately excess weight can lead to severe Covid

SARS Covid 19 has made its way into our lives and now we all are fighting against it. There's been a lot of revelations done by the scientists to explain it affects caused by severe corona and the factors that cause severe corona.

It's already been that older persons are at greater risk and the other factors like diabetes, heart problem, lung disease, and other underlying health issues make it worse by affecting the immune system.

Obesity is also one of the factors. One of the studies by UNC( University of North Caroline) shows that the journey of covid 19 recovery is affected due to obesity and all the odds are stacked against it.

The figure shows that more than 40% of Americans are obese, in the UK the figure stands at 27% and in India, it is 40% which are either obese or overweight.

The people who have BMI ranging from 30-35 are 1.5-2 times more likely to be admitted to ICU compared with the person of the same age group -'shows studies'.

Now Centres for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC) has issued its warning that even a few extra kilos up the risk of getting severe Covid.

An obese or overweight, a person has lower immunity responses than a lean person. One of the reason is the infection exacerbate the breathing difficulty in a person who is already obese. The other reason may be the infected fat shedding 'cytokine storm' that can lead to lung injury and the deposition of excess fats on the organs that can make the functioning more challenging while a person is ill. The different immune system responds differently so the severity in a covid depends majorly on the response of the immune system rather than the virus itself that is the reason why some people are recovering and some are severely affected by it.

Not just Covid but overweight or obese people can entice lots of diseases whereas losing weight eating healthy food and exercise can keep your body wary of them.
